Le Nhu Ha'Red Umbrella' Contemporary Vietnamese Oil Painting2012
2012
About the Item
‘Red Umbrella’ is a large figurative oil on canvas exterior painting created by Vietnamese artist Le Nhu Ha in 2012. The painting depicts the exterior façade of a Vietnamese building's front steps. A woman with a red umbrella walks down in the gentle rain.
Le Nhu Ha is an experienced and exquisite artist. His works contain immense detail and nuances between shadings of light and dark, sunlight and shadows. The majority of the colors in his works highlight a darker shade, which focuses the eye toward the more prominent brighter objects. Within the emphatic portion of his works, the subjects are composed of whites, reds, and yellows. In Vietnamese culture, the color red often signifies good luck and is used to ward off evil spirits. Beyond the colors and objects, Ha’s unique perspective leads one into the subtle and mysterious depths of each painting, drawing upon his spirituality.
