About the Item
Artist Comments
This contemporary painting depicts a conversation between a couple at a cafe. Artist Liz Brozell took a photograph of this scene in Paris and then brought the piece to life in her studio. She focused on the body language of the figures, and the soulful expression of the character on the right. Liz sketched in the figures in the background to add liveliness to the otherwise quiet moment.
About the Artist
Liz is a self-taught artist who is inspired by the graceful movement of the figure. She paints both from her own photographs and from life. One of her favorite subjects, the dancer, exemplifies a celebration of the female form and the artist’s personal love of ballet. Liz’s paintings are emotional and even raw, capturing each subject with active line- and brushwork. She does not assign an intended interpretation or narrative to her paintings; “I think that each viewer brings their own response to my art, and I don't care to 'mess' with their vision and experience.”
