Mihai Florea
I Love Fanny - Contemporary, Belt, Figurative Painting, Blue, Human

2010

About the Item

I Love Funny, 2010 Oil on canvas (Signed on reverse) 47.24 H x 39.37 W in. 100 H x 120 W cm “Buckle up” is a series of ten works that have as the main theme a fashion accessory: the buckle. On its surface are added different words that refer to the “universal neighborhood” argot or words that fragmentary present the relation between the two persons. The buckle becomes a leitmotif and a pretext to discuss problems and interpersonal situations and even the idea of a conflict that can appear within such relations, as in: “Hate Love”, “I Love Fanny” or “Teddy versus Robot”. Mihai Florea’s artistic steps outline a state of fact, an interrogation of today’s society and why not, that of tomorrow in which the human beings are transformed into the objects they promote and/or own. The fragmentary seriality of Mihai Florea’s images refers to the postmodernism “quotative character” in which the image is taken out from its narrative context and forced to exist independently.”
