"Mississippi River Boat" by Mortimer Wilson is a 20" x 40" oil on canvas genre painting for "Gone with the Wind". It is signed "W 32" in the lower left and comes from a private collection in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. Mortimer Jr. Wilson was born in Lincoln, Nebraska in 1906. He was an illustrator for the Saturday Evening Post, and Woman's Home Companion among others. In 1956, he moved to Arizona. Mortimer Wilson is known for figure, frontier genre, still life.. He studied at the Arts Students League in New York. The artist exhibited his portraits, still life, and genre paintings widely in the west.
