Crafted as an accumulation of representations of floral elements surrounding a square vinyl record, this vibrant and colorful unique piece by Natasha Lelenco is simultaneously an anthropomorphic portrait, a floral composition, and a still life. The piece, which takes its title from a well-known song by the Russian band Kino, is part of a series of works in which the artist reflects on the circumstantial and anecdotal nature of cultural and historical narratives, as well as on the ephemeral as something shared by the natural, cultural, and political realms. The artwork is created in acrylic on assembled treated pine wood boards, featuring a finish that combines the glossy varnish of the figure with a cracked background. The use of fluorescent colors makes it challenging to reproduce photographically, so a slight difference may be perceived between the photographs and the original.
Lelenco's "Fetiches" series melds portraiture and anthropomorphic forms, achieved through a meticulous accumulation of elements. These elements intertwine with a nuanced thematic exploration, touching upon both kitsch and popular iconography. The series also delves into the inseparable connection between humanity and the larger living community.
