Né en 1979. Vit et travaille en Irlande.
Originaire de Thaïlande, Nathan Neven a grandi en dessinant et en peignant tout ce qui l'entourait. Après des études d’art et de communication, il devient graphiste maquettiste pour des magazines, puis designer graphique dans la publicité. Nourrissant le rêve de devenir artiste peintre, il s’installe à Paris où il suit des cours pour parfaire son apprentissage. Son art raconte ce cheminement, sa vie en Europe et sa découverte du voyage.
Depuis une dizaine d’années, il mène une carrière d’artiste à plein temps. Ses expositions personnelles l’ont conduit du Japon à l’Irlande où il s’est installé, en passant par le Royaume-Uni, les Etats-Unis, la France ou l’Afrique du Sud. Il s’exprime par des paysages urbains, des scènes intérieures aux couleurs vibrantes et des juxtapositions joyeuses de notre vie quotidienne. Intérieurs dépourvus de présence humaine, ils permettent de mettre en avant toute la majesté et la puissance du lieu. Comme un fil d’Ariane, le fauteuil rouge nous invite à nous assoir, à nous approprier l’espace, à savourer l’instant. L’artiste éprouve une certaine fascination pour ces intérieurs classiques et silencieux en opposition avec la ville et sa fureur. Il maitrise la langue expressive de la couleur, des jeux de lumière, des textures travaillées et des formes originales avec une spontanéité et une émotion rare. Par sa technique éprouvée et inspiré par tout ce qui touche son âme, il partage avec nous ses émois dans une harmonie dynamique et chatoyante.
Multipliant les évocations mythologiques et les références à l’histoire de l’art, ses toiles nous rappellent aussi les photographies de Karen Knorr ou Gloria Friedman. Elles accordent une place déterminante à l’architecture, qui devient à la fois le cadre et le sujet de fictions où il introduit des animaux, éléments incongrus qui observent dans les positions archétypales de l’amateur d’art, les œuvres qui y sont exposées.
Nathan Neven fait partie de cette génération d’artistes contemporains qui, tout en admirant ses ainés classiques ou modernes, peignent avec spontanéité, sincérité et émotion... tout simplement.
