About the Item

Fascinating figurative painting by Norbert Schlaus (German 1927-2009) depicting a seated woman wearing a hat with fruit. Schlaus was born in Oberhausen, Germany but moved to California in 1962. His amazing work was focused primarily on face and body structure of the subjects. Provenance: From the estate of Norbert Schlaus. Several of his works are in the permanent collection of the Oakland, Museum of California. The painting is set in a gilt wood frame.
