About the Item
Pietrina Checcacci was born in Taranto, Italy. Currently, she lives in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Checcacci studied at the National School of Fine Arts from 1958 to 1964 and has won numerous awards. Two larger versions of her bronze legs were sold at Christie's, South Kensington. First lot was sold 3 September 2014, lot 153 for £23,750. Second lot was smaller than the first and it was sold 28 January 2019, lot 282 for £20,000.
This piece is a quintessential example of Italian artist Pietrina Checcacci's bronze sculptures in the shape of body parts.
