Abstract Woman I, acrylic on canvas, 20 x 20 inches (painted orange sides), $750
Randee Levine’s work follows the abstract expressionist movement allowing the laying down of one paint stroke to inform the next. Through this process of making gestures she responds viscerally to the language of each canvas. All the while a bit of her New York roots emanate in the form of the occasional graffiti–like word or text. Floating in and amongst this script the viewer grasps fragments of thought, drawing further contemplation.
Tribalesque figures and lively abstracts join force and the culmination of these elements allow one to get lost in color, form, gesture and the symphony they create.
Levine earned her BFA from State University of New York at Purchase. She studied Color Theory with Sewell Sillman.
