About this Painting: I was so fortunate to have traveled to Italy to visit the Ferrari factory and museum in 2018. I took so many photos of phenomenal Ferraris, like this F2000.
I played a bit with my reference photo to put this race car in a dimly lit room so that the "Marlboro" and lighting glints would stand out more. I liked the angle of seeing the car from the back, as if it just raced past you on the track at Monza.
Creating the tires was fun on this piece as there is a rainbow of colors including purple, blue, greens, and browns. Very fun.
Shannon "Shan" Fannin (b. 1969) is an American artist known for her dynamic portrayals of vehicles. Vehicles are more than just machines that get us around. They are wheeled expressions of our individuality. I try to capture that in my paintings.
I paint vehicles from the past, and ones that people dream of driving someday. The best part is when someone connects with my art, sharing their own car stories and dreams. That's when I know I've done a good job.
