Shana Wilson
"Young Women and Yellow Wall” Reclining Nude Figurative Female by Shana Wilson

2012

About the Item

"Reclining Woman Nude" by Shana Wilson is a 48" x 36" contemporary figurative nude that presents the human form in a subtle and graceful manner. The color palette is composed of soft, earthy tones such as warm browns and delicate creams, creating a sense of intimacy and vulnerability. The artist's unique style captures the essence of the subject through abstract shapes and gentle brushwork, allowing the viewer to engage with the emotion and sensuality of the reclining figure. This piece evokes a feeling of serenity and contemplation, inviting viewers to appreciate the beauty of the human body in its most relaxed and natural state. About the Artist: Over seven billion souls exist on this planet, each with a unique face and story. Shana transfers her visceral love for the human landscape to canvas, tenderly cradling its peaks and valleys, darkness and light, colors and neutrals, empty and full, hard edges and soft curves. Each brush stroke creates a controlled cacophony as it assembles the intricate jigsaw of the human face. An entire life’s journey is written on this human landscape; a journey that begs to be documented and treasured. Shana’s legacy project is to paint inspirational women from all walks of life, inclusive of all cultures and orientations. The subjects all have one thing in common; the ability to inspire and create social change. She pays tribute to them on canvas, painting a long overdue celebration of trail-blazing women. Visit any major gallery or museum in the world and it is teeming with paintings of nude women in states of subservience to erotica. Contrast this with the paintings of clothed men in states of strength and power. These are the images school children see on their field trips. We MUST flip this artistic marginalization on its head. The art world must work quickly and diligently to change the balance of how women are portrayed on canvas. Original, 1-of-1. Available at the American Art Gallery, Carmel-by-the-Sea, California.
