17-18 century, Original Antique Oil Painting in canvas, Genre Scene, Gold Frame

About the Item

Up for sale is a very interesting antique 17/18 centuries original oil painting on canvas depicting a genre scene with a gentleman in black robes is approached by two elderly men asking for alms. He shows them his open purse. No visible signature. Condition: stable craquelure overall. Relined. Two lower tears across the beggar in front with some bulging to the canvas, some losses along framing lines, and restored areas in the lower right. Presented in a contemporary gold frame.
