Size: 74 x 43.5 cm (including frame)
A wonderful mid century modernist composition, painted in oil onto canvas.
Two figures with baskets on their heads are depicted through the use of broad and distinct brushstrokes. The artist has omitted realistic detailing, opting instead to focus on the forms, shape and colour of the figures and their surroundings. The palette is muted, with the use of darker blues and purple set against areas of white. The vertical orientation of this painting makes it ideal for narrow spaces, and its distinctive modernist style of painting and frame will certainly make it a statement piece.
This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary wood frame with an inner gilt and linen window. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the linen border has some slight wear and age toning present.
