About the Item

"Tea for Two" Oil Painting 43" x 55" inch by Valery Mishin Valery Mishin was born in Simferopol in 1939. He graduated from the Sverdlovsk Art College in 1962, and the Mukhins Leningrad Higher School of Art and Industry, painting faculty, in 1968. He is a member of the Artists Union of Russia, a member of the UNESCO International Federation of Artists. He is one of the greatest masters of modern art. Valery Mishin is engaged in easel graphics, book graphics, and printing, paintings, objects, installations, ex-libris. He has participated in more than 300 exhibitions in Moscow, St. Petersburg and other Russian cities, as well as abroad - in Warsaw, Ghent, London, Mainz, Mexico City, Paris, Stockholm, etc. since 1966. More than 20 of them are one-man exhibitions including the one in the Central Exhibition Hall "Manege". He is a prize-winner of several foreign exhibitions. He was awarded the special prize of the House of Humour and Satire in Gabrovo in 1987, Grand Prix of the I International Biennial of Graphic Art in St. Petersburg in 2002. The artist has illustrated and designed over 50 books. Following the tradition of modernism in his work, Valery Mishin is extraordinarily diverse in book graphics and ex-libris. Some of his illustrations are made traditionally, others are conceptual, some are created in the method that the artist himself called "ReRealizm" or "Off-realism" (from the English. «ReRe» «Residual Realism»). The artist makes prints from real objects, plants, fish and creates a variety of compositions, turning these items into the plane of the sheet. His illustrations to "The Queen of Spades" by A. Pushkin and "Dzhakomeron" by T. Bukovskaya, which were made especially for the publishing house "Rare Books from St. Petersburg", are recognized now as a classic of book illustration art. Works of Valery Mishin are represented in the collections of the Hermitage, Russian museum, the All-Russian Pushkin Museum, Museum of Fyodor Dostoevsky, the Department of Prints of the National Library, the Museum of History of St. Petersburg, the Museum of City Sculpture, "Manege", Moscow Pushkin Museum, Museum of Contemporary Art, Kaliningrad Art Gallery, the art museums in Bristol, Gabrovo, Cremona, Mainz, New Brunswick, as well as in numerous private collections in Russia, Australia, Britain, Armenia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Hungary, Germany, Holland, Denmark, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Mexico, Norway, Poland, USA, Finland, France, Czech Republic, Estonia, Yugoslavia, Japan.

  • Nude in French Interior - original extra large oil painting by Paula Craioveanu
    By Paula Craioveanu
    Located in Forest Hills, NY
"Nude in French interior", in a room lighted from one side. Part of my Nude in interior series. Inspired in contrast and colors by French artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. Nude placed in a French palace, a sober classical interior in contrast with the modern relaxed attitude of the main character. Size is 150x150cm / 59x59in, oil on canvas. Painting was part of my solo show "Nude in Interior", March 2022. Can be shipped rolled in a tube for faster and less expensive shipping. Please inquire. "I started by painting interiors, being interested in space and perspective through my studies. These scenes evolved, when I added the human figure. I focused more on the human figure and its relation to the background. The human figure is more present than ever in my paintings now. As a woman artist I’ve been preoccupied with the female form and its imagery. One of my goals was to capture the solitary moments and the nude’s relation to the surrounding space. My interest turned from depicting the space to rendering the atmosphere and the scene as a whole, the feeling a woman adds to the environment: warmth, desire, joy, a feeling of power and control, or the opposite – sadness, despair. Here is a collection of figurative paintings, exploring the nudes in interior spaces, seeing the nudes from my perspective, as a woman artist, considering the physical and spiritual realities of a woman’s body, in a new level of intimacy. My paintings are the opposite of objectifying a woman’s or a man’s anatomy. Painted works, featuring female nudes and a also men nudes...
