Part of artist Wren Meyers's series of minimalist portraits created during an artist's residency in Los Angeles. In this painting, he balances warm and cool tones. The model's hair and garments in rust and red, while portions of her skin echo the blue-gray of the background. "These portraits continue to investigate my original techniques and subject matter, with an added layer of color, fashion, textiles, and subjects," says Wren. "Bright, saturated colors, sun-washed hues, and contrasting tones dominate this series."
About the Artist
Wren Meyers is an artist based in the Hudson Valley of New York. He works using a hands-on "wabi-sabi" approach, a Japanese aesthetic concept in which beauty is found in imperfection. This philosophy is visible in Wren's paintings and drawings. Known for his muted, earthy color palette and expressive, free-flowing lines, Wren explores the natural beauty of the human form and its relationship to other forms in nature.
