The Puzzle, Original Contemporary Figurative Painting on Canvas

2023

About the Item

The Puzzle, Original Contemporary Figurative Painting on Canvas 36x36 (HxW), Acrylic Paint This fun, colorful, inverted abstract figurative composition was created using acrylic, glitter and pigments on raw unprimed canvas. It's mounted to a strong wooden stretcher frame with wire ready to hang. This original artwork is signed by the artist. Frame not included. Wyanne (pronounced Y-anne) has been a full-time artist for the past 25 years. Her work is in collections all over the world including corporate and institutional settings. In late 2013 Wyanne was diagnosed with Stage IV oral cancer. She had never smoked and was otherwise relatively healthy. She lost her entire tongue and 66 lymph nodes. Speaking clearly has become a challenge. She takes all of her food and drink through a stomach feeding tube, but she is still cancer free. Wyanne considers the cancer a gift, pushing her to find the courage to express herself more honestly and boldly. She doesn’t waste a minute of the time she's been given, painting full time most every day. Her work is bold, dramatic, colorful, contemporary, and expressive. Inspired by Helen Frankenthaler, many of her pieces are quite large and painted on raw unprimed canvas that is lovingly stained and painted in acrylics with elements of mica, pigments, glitter, and sometimes other mixed media. Artist Commentary: Fun, colorful, inverted abstract figure created using acrylic, glitter and pigments on raw unprimed canvas, mounted to a strong wooden stretcher frame with hanging wire ready to hang. More are flying in, others are flying out. The woman has no legs - in fact, upon closer inspection, she consists of only head, hair, arms and hands - the butterflies have flown in to form the shape of her body - but in some places, you can see right through to the water or sky. Surely, this must be a dream. And perhaps, it is the dream of the woman depicted in the painting. That is for the viewer to decide." About the Artist: Tom Blood...
