- Calls in the Manitou Passage - Photorealistic Painting of Bald Eagle ScreechingBy Rick PasLocated in Chicago, ILA male bald eagle screeches to be heard above the stormy backdrop of Lake Michigan's Manitou Passage in Northern Michigan. Extraordinarily painted with such realistic detail, this majestic bird's feathers beg for the viewer to come in for a closer look at its plumage. The piece is framed in a simple black wooden frame measuring 31 x 51 inches. Rick Pas Calls in the Manitou Passage acrylic on panel 28h x 48w in 71.12h x 121.92w cm RPA022 ARTIST'S STATEMENT Creating is an addiction. With all the highs and lows you would expect. I am interested in the surface textures and creating paintings that portray them in realistic detail. Hopefully a viewer will feel they can run a hand over the feathers and moss, or grasp an object in the painting. This detail is usually composed in an abstract design. The design can occur naturally or be arranged by me. - Photorealism Still Life Acrylic Painting Flower Photo Realist Orchid, Vivid BlueBy Clarence MeaselleLocated in Surfside, FLClose up of a flower. canvas measures 30 X24 inches. Clarence Skip Measelle has been featured in over 100 gallery and museum exhibitions, competitions, group shows, and solo shows throughout the US. He is best known for his work in photorealism and abstract illusionism. The name Photorealism (also known as Hyperrealism or Superrealism) was coined in reference to those artists whose work depended heavily on photographs, which they often projected onto canvas allowing images to be replicated with precision and accuracy. The exactness was often aided further by the use of an airbrush, which was originally designed to retouch photographs. The movement came about within the same period and context as Conceptual art, Pop art, and Minimalism and expressed a strong interest in realism in art, over that of idealism and abstraction. The first Photo realists were Chuck Close, Don Eddy, Richard Estes, Ralph Goings, Robert Bechtle, Audrey Flack, Denis Peterson, Lowel Nesbitt and Malcolm Morley. Each began practicing some form of Photorealism around the same time, often utilizing different modes of application and techniques, and citing different inspirations for their work. However, for the most part they all worked independent from one another. For example, Chuck Close came of age at the height of Pop art and Andy Warhol's Factory, and was based out of SoHo in lower Manhattan. And Audrey Flack, a graduate of Yale, began creating photo-based works in the early 1960s. Select Solo Exhibitions Armory Art Center, West Palm Beach, Fl.
