About the Item

Artist: Elisabeth Hahn (German 1924-2021) Elisabeth Hahn was born in Dortmund, Germany, where she began her artistic studies. In 1953, she moved to Paris. She continued her studies at the Beaux-Arts in the workshops of Jean Souverbie and Edmond Heuzé, between 1954 and 1959. Since 1962, she has exhibited regularly at the Salons de L'Art Libre, Salon de L'Union des Artistes, and in major Parisian galleries: Galerie Raymond-Creuze, Galerie Cimaise de Paris and Galerie Everarts. She also exhibited regularly in Germany, including in Dortmund and Königswinter-Oberpleis. In her paintings, which tend to be figurative, she always tries to put color and line at the service of the subject, eliminating all the details that could be detrimental to the overall expression. Elisabeth Hahn's painting fully deserves to be rediscovered again. Title: Lemons against a teal coloured background. Still life with wine glasses. 2010, oil on canvas, 120x150 cm Large size painting with two glass of red wine filled with bright tropical flowers. Painting radiates love, warmth and happiness Kristīne Luīze Avotiņa is a young and bright personality whose talent is appreciated not only in Latvia, but also in other parts of the world. Her deep inner experiences and feelings of the soul are not hidden from the eyes of the audience, but are openly and engagingly narrated: about relationships, man and woman, passion, emotions, about experience and connection with nature. Characters live in Kristine's compositional solutions, where figurative painting and ornament appear. When painting large-format works, she masters the entire format, composition and color of the work, as well as linear drawing. Kristīne herself emphasizes: "Relationships between nature and people - it has always been a relevant topic in my painting. The more I work on it, the more interesting it seems to me. It is infinite and unending. With paint I refresh the beauty of nature and love on the canvas and I want to show that nature and love are equal in their beauty. In my works, I always want to show that nature is beautiful and worthy of admiration - a newly blooming water lily, falling leaves from golden trees, a pink sunset sky... This could go on forever..." By Vita Merca

Vita has been interested in painting since thirteen years of age. "in the fairy tales by Karl Skalbe, in the poems ofFricis Bard. I also try to approach this subtle soul vibration," says Merca. She emphasizes that she feels free of pompousness and more when she is painting, painting as a means of expression, managing techniques and paying attention to the nuances and motifs, without excessive volume. "Conceptualism does not exist for me, I want more so that a person, by contacting the painting, reveals what I want to say. It is looking for my contemporaries, the souls of the soul," she says. The artist is painting very specific things, but the reflection of water in her is not only general, it connects the earth and the sky.
