About the Item
Artist Comments
This painting is part of an ongoing series of works by artist Onelio Marrero featuring museum and gallery-goers. "The focus here is on a visitor seated in a quiet area of the Rembrandt collection in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City," says Onelio. "The couple is contemplating one of Monet's later paintings of Giverny."
About the Artist
Onelio Marrero paints city scenes of everyday life. In an impressionistic style he captures the romanticism of New York City, the picturesque fountains in Central Park and the wet city streets after a rainy afternoon. His use of warm tones creates a sense of nostalgia and the feeling that you have visited or seen this particular scene before. Onelio will often paint from direct observation, or he will work from a combination of photographs and combine numerous sources into one piece. In this way his work combines reality with fantasy, creating a new story with each painting. His work captures an appreciation for beauty in all of its greatest forms; nature, art, and people.

- Queen City Evening, Oil PaintingBy David ForsthoefelLocated in San Francisco, CA
Artist Comments
Dramatic evening view of downtown Cincinnati from a hill across the Ohio River in nearby Kentucky. "The painting demonstrates the interaction between a vibrant and busy metropolis and the surrounding natural environment," says David. Dense green, orange and purple foliage in the foreground lead the eye into the panoramic view of the city. Soft pink and blue light enter the scene from the left and draw attention to the expansive cloudscape floating in the distance.About the Artist
David Forsthoefel uses an impressionistic approach to celebrate the variety of Midwest geology, fauna and seasonal color. He strives to capture an integrated blend of shape, color and tone that revels in the abstract qualities of the paint itself. David is a native of Dayton, Ohio, and now lives in Cincinnati. His interest in the visual arts began at a very young age, with early forays into drawing with Jon Gnagy and his Learn to Draw series on television. This first exposure sparked a life-long search for artistic expression that included a BA in Fine Arts at the University of Louisville, and a career as a commercial illustrator and designer. Since retiring, he has devoted much of his artistic energy to painting the natural landscape in and around Cincinnati. He is a Signature Member of the Cincinnati Art Club, the Lexington Art Guild of Florida and the Transparent Watercolor Society. When not in his home studio, David helps care for his six grandchildren. He says he also has a serious golf habit that takes him outside to observe nature.Words that describe this painting: impressionistic, sky, city, clouds, Cincinnati, Ohio, architecture, bridges, architecture, impressionism, representational, oil painting, green, blue
