About the Item

A tranquil seascape featuring a towering but luminous ice berg is given a wry title in "Warm Ice, " a 2021 painting by artist Kevin Sloan. Sloan has created a scene of a mammoth ice chunk floating in open water. Sun shines onto the central subject, causing the surrounding waves to glisten. Painted on a circular canvas, viewers almost get the sense we are peering out of a ship window. The work's gold frame seems to enshrine the iceberg, a quickly disappearing site in a world plagued by global warming.
