Original oil on canvas painting attributed to the Canadian artist, Keith Holmes. Signed lower right. Condition is excellent. Circa 1975. Original walnut stained wood frame in fine condition.
Overall framed measurements are 12 by 15 inches. Provenance: A Sarasota, Florida collector.

Keith Holmes, painter, graphic artist, muralist, paints in a variety of styles, in locations from urban alley to wilderness landscape, his works are exhibited nationally, including the British Library, Trinity College Dublin and the Victoria and Albert Museum, and are in many notable collections. He has painted over 30 murals in B.C. and Alberta.
Approaching his portraits as a narrative and as much about the sitter, their life and achievements as is possible in one image. To this end, much in the same way of the Northern Renaissance artists, his paintings include their environment, home, work or leisure, favoured objects or people. Keeping the nature of the medium as neutral as possible, it is a portrait of the sitter and not about abilities in flashy use of media.
Keith studied fine art at West Surrey College of Art and Design before qualifying as a paper conservator at Camberwell School of Art and Crafts. He has taught postgraduate conservation studies run by the New York State University and is a fellow of the International Institute of Conservation and Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
