Charles-Amable Lenoir was a French painter who was admitted to the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Paris and the Academie Julian, where he studied classical styles of painting, particularly in the context of mythological and historical scenes. Lenoir received two Prix de Rome awards for his use of biblical subject matter and his adherence to a classical style.
In this masterful oil painting, Charles-Amable Lenoir creates a view of feminine beauty in a fully rural and natural setting.
