Out on the outer reef the wind howls through the surf as cresting waves peel and churn in a white froth, while the seas rough, textured surface contrasts in various shades of blue The jumping reef fish inspire the gulls to flight. And then there was this antherium!

Marc Zimmerman creates playful paintings, whether deep mysterious jungle or delightfully whimsical florals. His color palette explores various harmonies yet always surprises with new color excitement. Years of working with the woodcut print can be seen in Marc’s concise clarity of form and texture. His botanical world was initially inspired by the French artists; Henry Rousseau and Paul Gaugin. Painting journeys to the island of Kauai fueled Marc’s passion for the jungle series, lasting over 12 years. Marc Zimmerman
I have painted since 1980, starting with watercolor. Then on to woodcut ,collage and now for 30 years oil and acrylic. Mentored from 1981-89, Phil Dike, considered the father of the California school of watercolor. Self taught from then on, I went into sculpture in stone and bronze and now ceramic. Today I create and run my own gallery in Carmel by the sea.
