About the Item

Khanim (b. 1994) is a native of Western Kazakhstan. She graduated from The UNESCO Art School in Astana in 2012 and received her BFA from Parsons The New School for Design in New York in 2017. Khanim then created the eco-friendly brand "5:45 AM" in New York and later moved to Istanbul to bring her brand ideas to life while developing her graphic design skills. Currently residing in Astana, Khanim explores contemporary painting. Her hyper-realistic artwork captures the simplicity and beauty of everyday environments, often with a touch of surrealism. Her pieces depict intriguing moments where ordinary objects deviate from their usual context, evoking fascination, disturbance, and displacement. While some of her work reflects on consumer culture, Khanim's main focus is to preserve fragments of pure existence by intertwining her personal experiences with the public dimension.
