- "From the Inside", Contemporary, Mixed Media, Abstract, Painting, Wood PanelBy Ronald JohnsonLocated in St. Louis, MOBorn in Columbus, Ohio in 1968, Ronald Johnson received an MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2003. Since then, Johnson has exhibited widely both nationally and internationally, as well as being a resident at the Ucross Foundation in Clearmont, Wyoming in 2004 and at the Cite Internationale des Arts in Paris, France in 2002. Johnson uses strategically placed canvas strips to act as dam walls to corral the poured paint and polyurethane mix. Each layer must be sanded vigorously to ensure as much precision as possible. The sanding process gives the surface a unique sheen, while simultaneously transparent and opaque, reminiscent of encaustic. Through Johnson’s process, the layers become diffused and viscously permeable, with crisp edges and a traceable lost-and-found history. Contemporary Design, Abstract Mixed Media Painting on Wood Panel, Acrylic Paint "From the Inside...Category

- "Echo 1", Pair of Impressionist Style Oil Painting on Canvas, Waterscape DiptychBy Jill HackneyLocated in St. Louis, MO"A native of New Orleans, Jill Hackney studied painting at The Cleveland Institute of Art and Louisiana State University, where she earned her BFA. She is a founding member and twice president of Studio 801, an artists’ cooperative in Baton Rouge. She was also recently selected as a Fellow of the Baton Rouge Area Foundation for her work as President of the NUNU Arts and Culture Collective. Best known for her still life and landscape work, her focus is to show light’s impact on her subjects through layers of vertical and linear strokes. Using the natural texture of the wood on which she paints, each painting is approached with a sense of nostalgia. The end effect is a union of the senses, which awakens feelings of joy, serenity, and peace. Jill currently functions as the Director of International Communications for NUNU Arts and Culture Collective." "Echo 1", Pair of Impressionist...Category

- Listening to Scarlatti - bold, layered, abstract shapes, collage on paperBy Francine SimoninLocated in Bloomfield, ONVertical composition on paper with a canary yellow acrylic ground over which bristle brushed lines are cross hatched in black. This is balanced by a horizontal strip in white and grey at the foot of the composition held down by another white swipe of white acrylic. A small horizontal collaged rectangle at the upper left keeps the eye moving upwards in the picture plane. This work is unframed. Please ask us about framing options.
