About the Item

Clean, surreal depiction of a Boy Scout by Robert Peluce (American, 1937-2004). Dressed in full uniform, a Boy Scout holds a pipe to his lips. Above the bowl of the pipe, a number 3 billiards ball is floating in the air, as if suspended by the Scout blowing though the pipe. However, the ball appears to float freely, with no visible effort from the Scout. The style of this piece (and much of Peluce's work) is reminiscent to Rene Magritte, with clean lines, bold shapes, and distorted human subjects. Signed "Peluce" in the lower right corner. Unframed, but the edges are painted black for a frame-less display. Tag from Glass Garage Gallery on verso. Canvas size: 40"H x 40"W Robert Peluce (American, 1937-2004) was born in the Bronx, New York. He attended East LA City College and went on to study at the Chouinard Art Institute. In addition to painting, he was also an accomplished animator, working on films such as Jurassic Park, Jetsons: The Movie, and Honey, I Blew Up the Kid. Peluce’s painting style combines animation and aspects of fine art, creating a surrealist world that often includes visual puns and exaggerated characters.
