About the Item
Thomas Brown Yates was an English landscape and portrait painter active during the 1910-1935 period.
He studied firstly in London and then travelled to the Andre Lhote school in Paris where he studied and became the great portrait painter he is now taught of as being.
Yates exhibited in many important galleries during his carrier including the Royal Academy in London, the British Institute and the Glasgow Academy.
He lived in Surrey and looks like he was influenced by the works of Sickert, the Camden School and Augustus John.
The painting has been framed in a fantastic hand made Vintage English frame from the period of the painting.
