A striking full length portrait from the late 19th Century showing a hardy barefoot fisherwoman, standing in the harbour, holding a large dogfish by the mouth in each hand. Their tails drape on the floor and weight and gravity to the composition. A fishing boat lies on the sand behind her and more boats can be seen out in the distance on the blue water in the upper right.
