'Joyful' is an impressionist floral painting by urban impressionist painter Steve Javiel. The piece incorporates a blend of acrylic paints, spray paints, and solid markers on a wood panel, measuring 12 x 10 x 1.5 inches in size.
“The strong presence of color in my abstract flower paintings is a celebration of how we’re all from different backgrounds. Color is powerful and uplifts us when we’re down. The same way color puts me at ease, my hope is that I can help others feel the same. This new series strives to spread positive energy, as being in a positive state of mind is a game changer!
My process begins by distorting photographs of flowers and analyzing their colors and compositions in my head. While painting, I utilize a variety of tools ranging from different-sized brushes and stencils to oil pastels and I even incorporate my own handwriting into the abstract backgrounds. Layers upon layers are applied until the painting surface takes on a life of its own.” —Steve Javiel
