  • Celebration Roses, Original Still Life Floral Painting, Bright Naïve Painting
    Located in Deddington, GB
Celebration Roses [2021] Please note that insitu images are purely an indication of how a piece may look Celebration Roses is an original painting by Deborah Windsor. It features pink and white roses and rabbit tailed catkins stand tall in a white jug against a satsuma coloured background. Deborah Windsor has paintings available with Wychwood Art. Deborah grew up in the Kent countryside surrounded by animals and nature and started painting with her mother who was a portrait painter at a very young age. After art college Deborah co-founded a ran a successful ceramic design business in Portobello Road, London, designing, making and selling contemporary ceramics and undertaking commissions for well know media clients. Moving back to Kent in her thirties Deborah taught art and returning to painting, her first love, developed her still-life painting style. Deborah works in oil and acrylics building up her paintings with layers and washes to achieve depth and richness. Pattern, texture, decoration, shapes and colour are all important elements in her work. Working from life is vital to Deborah so that she can capture the essence of her subject. Jugs and vases spill over with fresh flowers and she will often paint part of one of her abstract paintings in the background to add an extra element to the composition. Deborah’s work features vintage china and fabrics from her collections which with her mainly gentle colour palette give her work a homely, peaceful feeling. Deborah now lives with her husband Vincent and their ginger cat...

    Located in Cotignac, FR
Surrealist contemporary tablescape, acrylic on canvas by Scottish artist Frank McLean Docherty R.S.W. Signed and dated bottom left, presented in custom wood frame. This piece is wonderfully colourful, playful and is typical of his witty sense of humour. Docherty likes to tease us visually and asks questions and presents conundrums to the viewer. Frank McLean Docherty was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1942. He became a student at Glasgow School of Art in 1960 and graduated from the Department of Printed Textiles in 1964. He taught in a secondary school in the East End of Glasgow for two years, thereafter departing to work in Dublin in the Republic of Ireland as a textile designer (Marks & Spencer, Heals and Liberty of London). He was also an illustrator for a range of newspapers and an Art Director of magazines. In 1973, he was appointed Principal Teacher of Art in a Scottish High School and in 1978 was honoured by the Queen when he was appointed Member of the Royal Society of Painters in Watercolours (R.S.W.) He left education in 1994. Since that time he has developed a vision which is quite unique in Scottish Art. Bank Managers, toucans, lighthouses, penguins, bowler hats, Frank Docherty...
