Recognizing the beauty of flowers as “the other” reminds us of our own innermost beings, the true nature of the self. While my florals are wild and beautiful, referencing the enlightened aspects of ourselves, they are also wildly human: messy in places with contradiction, nuance, layered with interpretation and experiences; not always balanced, symmetrical or predictable. The florals come from the chaos, beauty, and conflict that I see in our world and echo my personal life as I age, trading the naiveté of my youth for the more comfortable presence of wisdom." - Emily Fox King
