La scena, piuttosto scura e ambientata in esterno, come si desume dalle sagome di alberi sullo sfondo, vede alcuni volatili frutto della caccia, appoggiati per terra o appesi per le zampe a dei rami.
Il dipinto rimanda per stile e per soggetto a Felice Boselli, il pittore emiliano noto soprattutto per le nature morte, di cui realizzò un centinaio di opere caratterizzate soprattutto da cacciagione, pesci e animali da cortile.
Restaurato e ritelato, il dipinto è presentato in cornice antica riadattata.
