Fiona Smith, Three in a Row, Original Ceramic Painting, Still Life Artwork

2018

About the Item

Fiona Smith, Three in a Row Signed by the artist Original Acrylic painting on board Framed dimensions 69cm x 38.5 cm x 3.5 cm Three in a Row is an original painting by artist and painter, Fiona Smith. The artist Fiona Smith comments: My background is in teaching and, briefly, millinery, but I had always enjoyed drawing and started painting a few years ago. A potter friend gave me one of her beautiful bowls and I fell in love with its clean lines and tactile shape and wanted to try and capture its stillness. Symbolically bowls are said to be containers for the soul, I know that I feel very calm and peaceful when I paint them.I build up the colour in multiple layers of paint, applying the paint quite thinly and then wiping away most of each layer until only a trace of colour remains. What Wychwood Art say : We love these ceramic vessel paintings . They combine subtlety and chiaroscuro to the works. The influence of the great Italian painter Giorgio Morandi is also evident in Fiona Smith’s paintings. Fiona Smith selling original art in our art gallery and online. Fiona lives in Oxfordshire with her husband and three children. When not painting, she enjoys her work as a therapist and teaching meditation and spending time with her family and friends.

Sensational paintings of glass vessels come to life in this dynamic exhibition featuring new works by Korean artist Inkyeong Baek. Demonstrating an uncanny ability to capture her subject-matter, Baek’s enchanting oil paintings glitter with a gemstone-like quality that truly captivates. The material characteristics of glass are fickle, often visually elusive. Yet each work on display beautifully illustrates, in stunning, hyper-realistic detail, an array of objects, from champagne flutes to whisky tumblers. Take the large-scale painting, Rocks Glasses; here we see an assortment of vessels arranged in a triangle– refracted light dances across the intricate terrain of cut-glass crystal, resulting in an ethereal azure-tinted glow that mesmerizes the viewer. In the work Champagne Glasses...
