Ginny Williams
Ginny Williams is an American artist currently living and working in New England. Her art training began at an early age when she was given the opportunity to study with working artists as part of her elementary and secondary education. In college, while auditing painting classes on the side, she chose to earn her degree in art history-something she sees as highly valuable to her development and career as an artist. It was during these studies that she gained an appreciation for the broad scope of artistic expression over the centuries. She has a particular fondness for the northern European artists of the 17th and 18th centuries alongside much art of the late 19th century. She finds inspiration in artists’ ability to imbue everyday objects and scenes of daily life with a dignity and meaning above what is gained with a cursory glance. In her work, Williams strives to make pieces both beautiful, thoughtful, and able to speak to contemporary life despite their traditional style. Initially self-taught, Williams studied at several classical ateliers over the course of ten years, learning the methods and materials employed for centuries by artists. Her work has been shown at galleries around the country and she is currently represented at galleries in Atlanta, Cleveland, Portsmouth and Wenham. Williams maintains a studio in Wenham, MA, as well as one in Amesbury, MA, alongside her husband, the painter Donald Jurney. “My work is about little moments of beauty that comprise our existence if we will but pay attention, as well as the things and the relationships that tie us all together as people living, breathing, and experiencing life on the same planet. Whether it is the glint of light on an object; growing things, made objects, or the quiet glance of a figure, I enjoy finding interesting interactions between objects, people, and space. I strive to create a story that the viewer can enter, and interpret alongside me. In this we become partners in the creation of art.”

- Yellow Table by Anne Harney, Contemporary Interior Still Life PaintingBy Anne HarneyLocated in Atlanta, GAAnne Harney is a representational painter beginning her work from observation and concluding with a mix of imagination. “I prefer to begin my work from life. My landscape paintings usually follow me into the studio the following day to capture the light and color on to a more abstract larger painting.” The subjects do not always seem to have a connection, but the still life and landscape paintings all hold something personal to the artist. Personal objects such as, Grandmother’s iron, plaster models, dolls, material, mirrors and soda crates from a cousin’s barn, all make for an interesting story. Her landscapes of New England...Category
