Ginny Williams
Ginny Williams is an American artist currently living and working in New England. Her art training began at an early age when she was given the opportunity to study with working artists as part of her elementary and secondary education. In college, while auditing painting classes on the side, she chose to earn her degree in art history-something she sees as highly valuable to her development and career as an artist. It was during these studies that she gained an appreciation for the broad scope of artistic expression over the centuries. She has a particular fondness for the northern European artists of the 17th and 18th centuries alongside much art of the late 19th century. She finds inspiration in artists’ ability to imbue everyday objects and scenes of daily life with a dignity and meaning above what is gained with a cursory glance. In her work, Williams strives to make pieces both beautiful, thoughtful, and able to speak to contemporary life despite their traditional style. Initially self-taught, Williams studied at several classical ateliers over the course of ten years, learning the methods and materials employed for centuries by artists. Her work has been shown at galleries around the country and she is currently represented at galleries in Atlanta, Cleveland, Portsmouth and Wenham. Williams maintains a studio in Wenham, MA, as well as one in Amesbury, MA, alongside her husband, the painter Donald Jurney. “My work is about little moments of beauty that comprise our existence if we will but pay attention, as well as the things and the relationships that tie us all together as people living, breathing, and experiencing life on the same planet. Whether it is the glint of light on an object; growing things, made objects, or the quiet glance of a figure, I enjoy finding interesting interactions between objects, people, and space. I strive to create a story that the viewer can enter, and interpret alongside me. In this we become partners in the creation of art.”

- Le RomaineBy Dale ZinkowskiLocated in Wenham, MALe Romaine is an original oil painting on panel. It is framed in a water-gilded gold frame. The overall dimensions with the frame are approximately 10x14 inches. Master Still Life painter Dale Zinkowski was born in New York and his earliest memories of painting and drawing were from his Grandfather's own work, which hung throughout the home. Fascinated by the world around him, and the ability to capture fleeting moments on paper, he began to draw and paint from nature almost exclusively. From 1993-97, he attended the School of Visual Arts in New York City where he studied the Reilly method with both Marvin Mattelson and John F. Murray. Inspired by the techniques, and hungry for more information, he began copying from the old masters at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. When Murray moved his studio to Tucson, Arizona, Dale followed and focused his studies on the palettes, methods, and materials of artists such as Velazquez and Rembrandt. In 2012, Dale attended the Florence Academy of Art in Italy, where he pushed his understanding of traditional techniques and materials even further while drawing and painting master copies in museums and painting landscapes in the countryside. In 2013, Dale returned to New York City, where he immersed himself in the full-time program at Grand Central Atelier studying under Jacob Collins, Ted Minoff, Will St. John and Colleen Barry...Category

- Garden DibbleBy John MorfisLocated in Sag Harbor, NYAn oil painting of an antique tool, a Garden Dibble, which is a long stick-like tool used to make holes for seeds, to make sure they are sufficiently buried in the soil without damage. This particular object that Morfis chose to paint has a wooden handle, and a metal point. The dibber rests atop a nail, against a gray wall. Bright studio-light casts a sharp shadow directly beneath the tool. Painted in the academic realist style of "trompe-l'oeil" which is French for "trickery of the eye". BIOGRAPHY John Morfis was born in Glen Cove, Long Island in 1976. His humble beginnings made pursuing a career in art difficult and paradoxically necessary. Fixated on making things aesthetically pleasing, John made an extreme departure from his family life when he chose to base his life on art. Surrounded by mechanics, welders, and otherwise trade workers John had a tough time expressing his interest in a world much more utilitarian and much less expressive and impractical. With an extraordinary desire to be an artist and a grant awarded, John was able to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in painting from the University of Hartford in 1998. While there John studied oil painting under American realist Stephen Brown. John’s first solo show took place in 2007 at the Ellen Traut Collection Gallery in Hartford, CT and was a near sell out. Since then John has had success up and down the northeastern coast of the United States working with various galleries and collectors. His work has also appeared in various group shows at the New Britain Museum of American Art in Connecticut. ARTIST STATEMENT Each painting, although a portrait of a tired hand...Category
