- Naive art Still-life with apples and strawberries Red, blue, green, brow colorsBy Elena NarkevichLocated in Segovia, ES"Still life with apples and strawberries" oil on canvas by Elena Narkevich. Dimension framed: 57 H x 49 W x 4 D cm Dimension not framed: 35 H x 27 W cm x 2 cm D Elena Narkevich work is well known due to the ability to transmit emotions such as pleasure, surprise, sadness... Although there are those who see in Elena's characters influences of Botero's voluptuous figures, Elena has been inspired by other sources: her fat women have emerged from the aesthetics of the "Matrioska", the wooden doll that is the most emblematic product of Russian craftsmanship. , reproducing the kind faces of the simple women of everyday life. Elena Narkevich was born in Minsk-Belarus, and her paintings transmit a nostalgia for the traditional home warmth of her native country, for everything known, frequently repeating its folkloric elements such as the piled up Armenian carpets. Her spaces are very intimate, full of lyricism, nuanced with a refined sense of humor that enhances the strength with which she manages to transmit the communication of emotions. MORE ABOUT THE ARTIST Elena Narkevich, resident in Spain since the '90s, received the First Medal of the Naïf Prize and the First Prize for Small Format from the Spanish Association of Painters and Sculptors in Madrid. Some of her works are included in museums and important private collections in Santa Fe and Atlanta in the United States. She has participated in numerous individual and group exhibitions in Minsk, Leningrad, Moscow; in France (Lyon) and in many Spanish cities such as Málaga, Granada, Coruña, Santiago de Compostela...Category

$2,833 Sale Price40% Off - Raquel. Large format interior with woman portrait and still-lifeBy Alfredo RoldanLocated in Segovia, ES"Raquel" is an interior scene of a young woman, stretched out comfortably on a sofa, surrounded by flowers and fruit. She gazes placidly at the artist, who is portraying her dressed in a nightgown and a colorful dressing gown. Oil on canvas. 2003 Measurements: 90 x 200 cm / 35,43 x 78,74" The rich range of colors used and the relaxed gesture of the model envelop the atmosphere of comfort that prevails in the works of this author because, according to his words: “When I use a model I want her to be very comfortable, rested, calm and relaxed. I am not interested in movement in my work, as it always ends up too artificial for my taste and would interfere with the ambiance I am trying to create”. The flattened perspectives, the fractured surfaces, and the graphic stylizations refer to the cubism of Picasso and Juan Gris. There are echoes of Modigliani in the treatment of his female models and we can detect an homage to Gauguin and Matisse, in his playful and sensual manipulation of color. In 2003 Ediciones Sammer publishes in a deluxe edition the book Alfredo Roldán written by the sculptor David Gamella where a large part of his work is reproduced. This painting, Raquel, is reproduced on the cover of the book and also inside on a double page (294-295). ABOUT THE ARTIST Alfredo Roldán (Madrid- Spain, 1965) is a self-taught artist who, at the age of 22, began selling his works at street markets. In 1994 he won the award granted by the City Council of Madrid with the painting “El Baño Azul”, which now hangs in The Museum of Modern Art of Madrid. That year he began to work with the renowned British dealer...Category

- Delacroix's WindowLocated in Westport, CT"My life as a painter began in the late 1950s when abstraction was “The only game in town”. I followed and progressed through gesture, organic and finally, geometric non-objective painting. The radical move for me was to discover that the real world of landscape lurked behind all that past work. My childhood in the mountains of Pennsylvania pervaded my “way of seeing” and I wanted to investigate and celebrate the infinite variety of tone, color and composition that I found around me. Sky, the structure of trees, mist and water appeared to fill a hunger to look again and again. There was mystery and danger lurking behind the beauty, and my aim was to try to avoid the cliché and explore the infinite structure of the visual landscape. Now I use my camera as a sketchbook and search for images that seem to offer odd structure and “mystery”. I shoot multiple points of view, cull, crop, and mostly discard. The surviving photographs become the catalyst for the paintings and the process is always a mediation between memory and the small image pinned to my easel...Category
