About the Item

Midsummer 1988. Oil on canvas, 80x60 cm The artist's portrayal captures the vibrant and lively essence of midsummer. The flowers are depicted in a variety of colors, showcasing the richness and diversity of nature's palette. The artist's attention to detail highlights the unique characteristics of each flower, such as the delicate petals, the intricate patterns, and the varying shapes. The flowers are set against a green background, which represents the lushness of foliage during the midsummer season. The green background adds a sense of vitality and freshness to the composition, complementing the vibrant colors of the flowers. It provides a harmonious and natural backdrop that enhances the overall visual impact of the artwork. Laimdots Murnieks has said: "I am a sunny artist. The sun and a woman are the center of the world. It is not for nothing that the sun always comes with me in my paintings - it is the basis of everything and symbolizes my wife - Zhanna. I think that a woman is what inspires the whole world to do good deeds. I want to express such an idea with my painting - that the good will always win, that the beautiful will always win the world. That's the main thing! Neither war nor tragedies ever impress people like that, but it is beauty that gives strength to continue working and living . I was born under the Star of Happiness - everything has been achieved. Both in art and in love." Laimdots Murnieks (1922-2011) studied at Cesis and Jelgava teachers’ institutes (1938 – 44). He graduated from the Painting Department of the Latvian Art Academy (1953, diploma work “Winged helper”, under the guidance of V. Kozins). Still life with wine glasses. 2010, oil on canvas, 120x150 cm Large size painting with two glass of red wine filled with bright tropical flowers. Painting radiates love, warmth and happiness Kristīne Luīze Avotiņa is a young and bright personality whose talent is appreciated not only in Latvia, but also in other parts of the world. Her deep inner experiences and feelings of the soul are not hidden from the eyes of the audience, but are openly and engagingly narrated: about relationships, man and woman, passion, emotions, about experience and connection with nature. Characters live in Kristine's compositional solutions, where figurative painting and ornament appear. When painting large-format works, she masters the entire format, composition and color of the work, as well as linear drawing. Kristīne herself emphasizes: "Relationships between nature and people - it has always been a relevant topic in my painting. The more I work on it, the more interesting it seems to me. It is infinite and unending. With paint I refresh the beauty of nature and love on the canvas and I want to show that nature and love are equal in their beauty. In my works, I always want to show that nature is beautiful and worthy of admiration - a newly blooming water lily, falling leaves from golden trees, a pink sunset sky... This could go on forever..."
