Spring Garden

About the Item

Spring Garden" landscape in the style of Paul Cezanne. Impressionism" original oil painting by Volskya Lilya Magical iridescence of colors on canvas. For this hell, For this nonsense, Send me a garden In my old age. (Marina Tsvetaeva) Do you have a window to the garden? A window into an evergreen, sunlit, spring-fresh garden? I have created for you a window into the garden of relaxation, where the youth of nature is endless behind Murano glass. A window that can fit on any wall and will be a portal to enter spring, as in a resource trance for strength and energy. The painting "Spring Garden" is a product of the union of West and East. A bow to Western art is the subtlest allusion to the work of the French post–impressionist Paul Cezanne. And the technique of execution is ebru, it came from the East. That's how my ebru style, impressionism, was created. Ebru – from the Persian "air clouds", as well as its Japanese counterpart suminagashi "floating ink", is a technique of painting with paints on the surface of water. The painting was painted using an ancient technology: paints are prepared on the basis of mineral pigments ground in a mortar and mixed with bile so as not to dissolve in water. On the surface of the water, the paints under the artist's hand create intricate iridescences, flow into each other, dance and freeze to inaudible music. And then, with a deft touch, like a kiss, this magic is imprinted on the canvas. And I'm giving this kiss to you!

  • "SORCERER'S BISCUIT", painting, surrealist dream, wolf, queen, duality, magic
    By Tony Geiger
    Located in Toronto, Ontario
SORCERER'S BISCUIT is a new oil on canvas surrealist painting by Brooklyn, New York artist Tony Geiger. It measures 16x20" and is a unique artwork. Note the artist's vocabulary present here – the young girl in early 20th century clothes holding the chewed biscuit; on poles either side of her what looks like a wolf in top hat, and a queen with crown. The wolf and queen are dimensional though appear as garish silhouettes – setting up a duality, a dream, a magic spell... Tony Geiger has said his paintings take you to a certain place, but you have to find your own way back. The world he creates encompasses both classical surrealism and more contemporary concerns. Conflict is usually present. These mischievous juxtapositions make statements on the human condition – either politically, physically or spiritually. Geiger wants the viewer to be challenged and amused by this mixture of the macabre and the playful. A graduate of the School of Visual Arts, New York and a longtime NYC resident, Tony Geiger still considers himself a transplanted Californian. He has exhibited paintings at the Sideshow Gallery in Williamsburg, the Barbican Centre in London, England, Miami Projects at Art Basel, Ceres Gallery in Chelsea, NYC, and he was accepted into The Drawing Center’s Viewing Program. Tony Geiger lives in Carroll...
