Il quadro e' ispirato all' opera di Abraham Van Beyeren pittore olandese dell'epoca barocca uno dei piu' grandi pittori di natura mortai.La composizione del dipinto in esame può essere caratterizzata come una versione più semplice di un tipo di banchetto o Pronkstilleven che fiorì ad Anversa negli anni Quaranta del Seicento.In questo 'pronkstilleven' (olandese per 'sontuose nature morte') De Robertis raffigura una grande varietà di oggetti di lusso, come la coppa ed il vassoio in argento,il bicchiere veneziano, gamberi e diverse varieta' di frutta. Sono espressioni di ricchezza oltre che una dimostrazione del virtuosismo pittorico dell'artista.
