About the Item
Still life with calla lilies, jasmine flowers, and pearl jewelry by California artist Rose Campbell (American, 1888-1965). Signed "Rose Campbell" lower left, Santa Cruz Art League label and Gump's Department Store on verso. Condition: Two linen tears repaired.
During the early part of the 20th Century Gump's was a hot bed of fine art display, displaying many future well known California painters works.
Displayed in a painted wood frame. Image, 24"H x 34"L.
Frame, 29"H x 39"W x 1.5"D (Rustic painted frame included as-is) We will re-paint the frame in a complimentary color.
Campbell was a resident of Carmel between 1927-32 and San Francisco in the 1940s. A member of the Carmel Art Association and Santa Cruz Art League. She exhibited at the California Palace of the Legion of Honor in 1945. While a resident of Berkeley in 1897-1905, Campbell studied at the Mark Hopkins Art Institute.
