About the Item
Sophisticated, chic, worldly--call it what you wish--but abstract expressionist flowers by Sonia Grineva, shown here freshly cut and placed in an emerald green glass vase, is what brings her collectors searching for her works across the globe! The exclusive Italian island of Capri, a favorite spot, is nearly over run with captivating florals, and gardens in sumptuous combinations of colors! The bold orange background color pops when paired with the textures of classic impasto. Grineva combines styles, textures and colors to best reflect her subject matter using her own on location experiences as inspiration whether painting in Capri, Manhattan, Cassis or Sardinia. Grineva was originally educated at the Russian Stroganov Institute, earning both a bachelors degree and masters of fine art. Her subsequent studies at the National Academy of Design in NYC earned her extensive accolades including a scholarship to continue her studies in Florence, Italy, at the British Institute. Grineva's work has been widely shown from the Vatican to Pfizer to Time Warner to the Harvard and Yale Clubs to the White House, to Sea Island, the Hamptons and Spring Lake.
