About the Item

Bosque (Triptych) III, 2018 Acrylic on metallized polyester sheet 70h x 50w in Valeria Vilar received her Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from the University of Buenos Aires in 2009. In 2011, Vilar was selected to be part of the Artist Program of the University of Torcuato Di Tella, which was led by the artist Jorge Macchi. Vilar has attended multiple visual arts workshops, and in 2013, Vilar worked with the artists Elisa Estrada and Florencia Lenzi to co-found CasaPlaza – a visual arts school for children. Among her solo exhibitions are the "Fairies' Powder" at Central Gallery of Bs As Projects, 2012; “Pinopark” at Central Gallery of Projects, 2010. She has participated in several group exhibitions including “Pictorial Fantasies” at Artemisa Gallery, New York; “Deliciosa” at Turbo Gallery, Buenos Aires; “Cirque” at Helene Lamarque Gallery, Paris. Valeria Vilar’s paintings are memories of tales, dreams, recondite places of imagination and fantasy. The figurative becomes more visible at certain moments and disappears to leave a space for the reconstruction of each spectator freeing his or her imagination. The characters are dissolved, and give rise to strokes of abstraction where you feel the need to recompose the story. Figurative in some parts, images are presented as a puzzle that distracts us with colors and gestures in the composition.

  • CHROMASEEDS - Framed Mixed Media Painting of 3 Gaillardia w/ Blooms Falling
    By Heather Hartman
    Located in Signal Mountain, TN
CHROMASEEDS is a multilayered composition created with paper and tyvek cut-outs painted with oil, acrylic, and gouache, sealed with polyester mesh layers. The plants represented in the piece are Gaillardia flowers, commonly known as blanket flowers, native to North America and often bred for their decorative, ornamental shape. In her creative process, Hartman anthropomorphizes the flowers, paying attention to their dance-like growth movement. Here, their shadows dance in the prismatic light of the rainbow, while the wind catches their seeds, cultivating the garden. The vibrant, rainbow light was achieved by painting a prismatic shape on tyvec and black paper, creating a reverse silhouette...
