About the Item
Night and Moon belongs to a series of paintings and photographs inspired by the communication between an artist and a spectator. Working with colors and lines, the internal artistic experience is transcribed and coded into the work and transferred to the spectatorship that might be tuned into frequencies of the creative act. Like my other work, this painting deals with communication between the artist and a spectator via rhythm and code, generated from the experience that is subconsciously transferred to the work. I painted a layer over a layer of paint to create an abstract image with visual properties that are not limited by our perception of the real world. Starting from the mental blueprint, the initial composition was changing as leaks, splashes, and droplets of paint started to define the final image. The process is very much similar to drawing. It starts from perception and experience of the physical world, and as the work progresses it gradually transcends into this internal, psychological experience. The work is created in a state of mind where concepts of space and time became suspended.
