Gold Cloned Penguin With Petbottle
Located in Denver, CO
William Sweetlove unites dadaism with surrealism and pop art in humoristic sculptures that at first sight may seem “kitschy”. However, closer familiarity with his works reveals their role as a creative antidote to the overproduction and over consumption of our society. With his cloned animals William Sweetlove calls for greater ecological awareness and urges us to reflect on the consequences of the climate change challenging humanity- the penguins carry water bottles since we are running out of drinking water. This large gold sculpture...

Parallel
By Dan Corbin
Located in Napa, CA
Cast bronze & Oxide Patina
Dan Corbin's sculptures are a convergence of conceptualism and the human figure, illuminating what it feels like to be alive during current times, with all its beauty, complexity, contradictions, and possibilities. The artist’s sculptures address issues of contemporary society - materialism, industrialization and cultural change - while simultaneously referring to a wide range of human emotions. His sculptures lift the spirit while questioning what it is to be human. In Corbin’s archetype of man, intellect and soul are separate from the body. Armless, headless, anonymous cores can now be broken down to the smallest units, analyzed, engineered, beautified, and commodified.
Corbin’s articulation of figurative sculpture takes iconography of the present and embeds it in the surface of his sculptures. He calls these miniature time capsules ‘inclusions’. Objects like cosmetic bottles, action figures, dolls, and feeder fish are sealed in resin and strategically embedded throughout the body. With these ‘inclusions’ the figure becomes a technologically enhanced vessel. The human body is no longer a container for a perfect being, handed down by god or evolution, but an aesthetically enhanced harbinger of a new era. In combination with the ‘inclusions’ Corbin uses a multitude of industrial materials, emphasizing the intrinsic value and physical properties of each. Each surface becomes fully charged with content, primed for multiple interpretations.
Dan Corbin has been included in notable exhibitions at galleries and institutions including the Museum of Northern California Art...

Model for Monument to the White Squirrel
Located in Montreal, Quebec
Brandon Vickerd has in the past explored anthropomorphic hybridity and technological impetus through taxidermy and mechanics. For the Wrong Place, Wrong Time exhibition, the artist revisits these themes, this time putting bronze casting in the spotlight. Vickerd imagines anachronistic and incongruous juxtapositions of this material, which is reminiscent of both antique statuary and modern public monuments. These associations provoke laughter or discomfort, and they detonate in the space of the gallery as well as in the urban setting in which a large part of its production is destined. This is undoubtedly where the contextual and temporal inconsistencies evoked by the title of the exhibition reside.
Inspired by the material tradition of bronze, the artist relies heavily on references to Greek mythology, which he likes to subvert. With Atlas (2019), Vickerd makes a reversal of the famous story of the bearer of the globe. Rather than bravely supporting the weight of the world, the Titan seems assailed by multiple spheres that hide the top of his body, leaving only his distinguished shoes and his dress pants. The sculpture Flora Hominis (2019) illustrates a transitional state between the human and the plant whose detail evokes the metamorphosis of the nymph Daphne into a tree, once immortalized by Bernini. The artist presents here a fragmentary study of this monument commissioned by the Royal Botanical Gardens of Burlington, Ontario. While the statue aims to honor the founder of the place, the latter is made paradoxically unrecognizable by the vegetation that proliferates on his face. In this way, Vickerd replaces the heroic celebration of his subjects with a partial occultation of their identity.
The sculptor deftly adjusts to classic themes the signifiers of the disappointed promises of modernist ideology. On the 50th anniversary of the first US moon landing, Oblivion (Dead Astronaut...

"Content" - Contemporary Aerial Landscape Paintings - Hilma af Klint
Located in Atlanta, GA
"Content" is a large scale aerial landscape featuring rich hues of magenta, blue, purple, and gold.
Kate Hooray Osmond is an American painter and installation artist based Charleston, SC. She is best known for her large-scale paintings with bold colors and gold leaf overlay. Her paintings are inspired by source images she takes from helicopters. One of Osmond's favorite things about viewing a city from above is the juxtaposition of the natural and the man-made, often sitting back-to-back with one another. She was named the State Fellow for South Carolina by the SouthArts Commission 2018 and Lowcountry Artist of the Year 2017. Kate is an MFA candidate at Maryland Institute College of Art. She exhibits internationally and her work is found in private collections as well as public, notably the College of Charleston and HBO Productions.
