Drawing inspiration from his childhood by the ocean in Argentina and a lifelong passion for horses and their unique athleticism - his work illustrates the harmonic beauty of both unbridled forces of nature from a unique and personal perspective. Based in Miami, Juan was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he started shooting as a teenager. He grew up by the Atlantic Ocean on the east coast of Buenos Aires province, on his family farm in Argentina. An early life surrounded by horses, animals, nature, and the ocean; elements that have a constant presence in his work. After finishing high school in the peaceful seaside farm living, he moved to Buenos Aires to study Cinema Direction, where he graduated from Universidad del Cine in 2006. During his studies he worked in film production and advertisement to master set technics and moved to NY in 2007, where he spent the next 2 years honing his skills assisting some of the most influential fashion photographers and directing short films and video installations. For the past 10 years, Lamarca has shifted his focus towards fine art photography, devoting his career to personal driven projects and explorations; his latest Horse Series, and Ocean Series, shot between 2014 and the present in Florida, New York, Cuba, Argentina, Costa Rica, and Ecuador. His fine art photographs have already received multiple industry awards including the distinguished International Photography Award in Fine Art, the 1x Photo Award for Still Life in Sweden, the iShot It Leica Mark of Excellence Award in England, among others. Additionally, one of his Horse Series has been selected by the multi-award-winning creative director and partner of Pentagram Angus Hyland to be featured on the cover of his latest project, Book of the Horse, the fourth title in a series for Laurence King Publishing featuring the British graphic designer's favorite artworks of horses. The book was published in Spring 2018 with world rights, in all languages. The majority of Lamarca’ s work is currently part of private collections around the world, including collections in New York, the Hamptons, Palm Beach, Los Angeles, Brazil, Buenos Aires, Germany, Colorado, Bahamas, among others.
