About the Item
This unique silver gelatin print was one of my early ice/ice concoction/ice rubbing photograms, made just prior to "The Many Rings of Saturn." [Made with ice, flowers, glitter, and wax]. I'm offering it at a reduced price, since it was one of my early test prints.
I began making photograms with alternate light sources in June 2020, due to having an unfinished darkroom at the time. 3 years and 6 bodies of work later, my photograms have taken on a life of their own (and are responsible for the bulk of my post-covid income, via teaching and thankfully art sales; I have also been quite lucky in the awards department over the past few years).
All of my photographs are about what something is - and what else it can be... And my titles are important... I fell into photography by way of eastern religions a lifetime ago - and it found its way into my work early on (and never left). While these alternate process landscapes are one-of-a-kind photographs that I essentially build from scratch, I think of my photograms more in terms of printmaking and sculpture, as I like to work my materials between (and sometimes) during (multiple) exposures. [The processes aren't always kind to the paper, but tend to leave some really interesting marks behind.]
