Mitchell Funk
Central Parks Bethesda Terrace in Magenta Light

2020

About the Item

Photographer Mitchell Funk celebrates color with this magical moment of the stairs that lead to Bethesda Fountain. To a casual passerby, this image as it appears would not register. Funk waits for the right light, lens, and camera angle and then composes it in an artful way. The composition is composed of horizontals acting in counterpoint to verticals. All 4 figures are looking at their cell phones as they move from extreme foreground to background in a line. Viewing it in person at 60 x 40 becomes an immersive experience of color and it's emotional effects. Mitchell Funk is signed, dated and numbered 2/15, lower right recto. Other sizes are available and the fine art photograph is unframed. Printed on Hahnemühle Fine Art paper Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of " Color Photography" In 1970 he participated in one the first " Color Photography" shows at a major museum.
