About the Item
Brice Gelot is a french self-taught photographer who has gained a strong reputation for his raw and powerful photography, known for his photojournalism, documenting the street culture.
Born and raised in Dijon, he started in 2004 using a Canon A1 learning film photography with the urge to share stories to show various perspectives and ways of seeing the world.
As a photojournalist, his main objective is to capture the essence of street life through his unique and distinct vision. He strive to showcase the gritty reality of life on the streets, shedding light on the marginalised members of society and the challenges they face on a daily basis.
Through his work, he seek to inspire empathy and understanding for those who often go unnoticed or ignored, and aim to challenge the viewer's preconceptions and highlight the resilience and strength of those who persevere in the face of adversity. Ultimately, his passion for photojournalism is driven by the belief that images can be a powerful tool for social change and can facilitate important conversations about the most pressing issues of our time and raise awareness, educate, promote intercultural dialogue by highlighting the differences between the cultures and lifestyles of disadvantaged neighborhoods and other communities. He want to help by breaking down stereotypes and promote better understanding, but also reflect on important issues such as poverty, humanitarian crisis, social justice and human rights.
Brice's photographs have been featured in magazines, press agency and art galleries around the world, gaining him a reputation as one of a leading street photographers.
Aside from his passion for black and white film photography, Brice is also a sculptor, his work primarily recognised for his bronze. The message behind his pieces can vary between violence and peace using as subject our society and the temporary nature of existence.
He continues to work on various long term projects and he is available for private commissions worldwide.
