About the Item

Ahead of the Storm, Boquillas, Mexico by Chris Regas depicts a cowboy riding a horse into a storm. The dusty air clouds the silhouetted figure, making it hard to discern if the figure is riding into or out of the dust storm. This toned silver gelatin photograph measures 10.5 x 16.5 inches and is edition 6/20. This photograph is signed and numbered in pencil on window mat recto. On the mat verso, there is a label with the title, date, number and print type written in blue ink. Chris Regas' experience as a photographer spans some 36 years with images that range from traditional to contemporary. His commercial clients included, Henry S. Miller, Trammel Crow, Texas Instruments, Brinks, AT&T, W.O. Bankston, and, Neiman Marcus, for which his photographs have been used in publications such as, D Magazine, New Yorker, Women’s Wear Daily, Desert, Dallas Life, 35 mm, Private Clubs, and Detour. Chris' work has been exhibited internationally, receiving many honors and medals, including the prestigious Kodak Kinsley Award. His photographs are included in the Harry Ransom Museum Collection at the University of Texas at Austin, the Museum of Art in Tyler and Wichita Falls, and in the corporate offices of J.C. Penny in Dallas as well as in many private collections. He has had over thirty one-person and group exhibitions. Chris has judged and curated photographic exhibitions, lectured, and conducted a variety of photographic workshops. He taught a variety of creative photography courses at Collin County Community College for years, as well as private courses and conducted workshops dealing with contemporary photography. Chris was a regular participant at the Wick Fowler International Chili Cook-Off since 1969. His Chili Cook-Off credentials included 20 years of chili judging 'behind the store.'
