John KennyFula Nomad at Golondi by John Kenny C-type Print with Acrylic Face-Mount,2009
2009
About the Item
The man was sat in the shade during a huge village market in a place called Golondi in Niger. We drank the salty, sweet tea that the nomads of the Sahel and Sahara so adore.
His distinctive facial tattoos marked him out as a true Fula nomad, an individual who travelled through the most remote and isolated regions of Niger. He had travelled many hundreds of kilometres from the far east of Niger – the region where he was born and where he spends most of his time.
John Kenny’s work is all shot on location in some of the remotest corners of Africa. His images are all taken with natural light and his subjects in their day to day attire.
The C-type prints are mounted with an acrylic face mount giving them a 3-dimensional appearance and a contemporary look.

His photographs are signature, classical, and bold, and in our world of manipulation, Watson prefers the enlargers and the trays; an artist who greatly enriches our perception with his unique photographic view.
